Rock Suggests

A fully successful wardrobe choice should always direct the viewers' attention - and concommitant compliments - to the wearer rather than the garment.

Not:
"What a slutty dress!"

But:
"What a slut!"

what about observations directed toward the sum of both parts(clothing and person).
ie. "That looks painful."
"Is that legal?"
"Maybe we should get a cab."

A frame, perhaps, if one is allowed to prefer bright gilt to nasty dark oils.

Perhaps empathy and panic both overshoot the mark. The cab, though - I love cabs. They're like All Back Seat, and the only important decision is what to tell the driver to do about the tilt of the rearview mirror.
